What if your grandfather could manage his diabetes without using tedious test papers and confusing information? What if a 7-year-old child with diabetes did not have to face the tension or fear of puncturing his finger every time? These are the obstacles that the current continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) technology has overcome, and also the problems that ADI has solved by embedding breakthrough technology in the continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) equipment.
CGM is a mobile device for diabetes patients. It inserts a micro sensor under the skin to test the blood sugar level all day long. It is a better solution for rapid and accurate monitoring of diabetes. diabetes patients and their doctors can obtain real-time information without encountering many obstacles caused by traditional testing methods.

However, this is not a perfect solution – at least not at present. The main obstacle of CGM technical solution is always the combination of size, weight and power (SWaP). After all, CGM is a portable vital sign monitoring (VSM) device, which is usually worn on the arm or stomach of diabetes patients. However, because it needs to maintain power supply to collect data, it is difficult to design it to work normally without affecting the size of the wearer.
As a leader in digital healthcare solutions, ADI’s expertise is sufficient to meet this SWaP challenge, especially in wearable technology and chronic disease management. We have been working hard to help CGM technology manufacturers (especially China Meiqi) develop smaller and more intelligent devices. Finally, we successfully developed new technologies to help realize a new generation of VSM technology with low interference and convenience.
As digital medical health is getting closer to the forefront of international medical dialogue, the demand for VSM technology has increased sharply. At present, the global demand forĀ digital health innovation has reached an unprecedented level, especially the technology that can keep people healthy and away from hospitals. In this sense, the independent monitoring system that can directly send information to doctors and the cloud has also promoted the development of public health and popularity in an indirect way.
Progress in VSM is critical for groups such as diabetes patients and medical and health professionals. With the wide application of VSM technology, diabetes patients can achieve the accuracy and active data collection that cannot be achieved by fingertip blood sampling and detection methods. What if your grandfather had the tools needed to prevent complications such as vascular injury, heart disease, stroke and kidney disease, and could have information about his diabetes in advance? Or what if a seven-year-old girl could wear a cool little computer on her arm to monitor her health instead of carrying out terrible acupuncture? We believe that there are many similar cases that can make people live a happier and healthier life. The increase of data enables patients to actively manage their own health, thereby reducing the burden of the medical and health system by reducing the number of inpatients and emergency treatment needs.
Finally, the motivation of ADI to improve CGM technology is also the motivation of all of us: constantly seek breakthroughs to make life better. As a contact of Meiqi said, “The cooperation with ADI, ADI’s system-level understanding and domain expertise are very outstanding. Facts have proved that they are not only a component company.”
